Ch.20

CEV: The Maturing of Israel into the Church
ESV: The Metamorphosis of Israel into the Church

“I am the good shepherd.
I know my own and my own know me,
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And I have other sheep
that are not of this fold.
I must bring them also,
and they will listen to my voice.

So there will be one flock,
one shepherd.

(John 10:14–16)

CEV Circle diagram 8: The special nation rejected their King. Their King still prayed for them, and over a period of a bit less than forty years, God graciously reformed the believers from that special nation, along with a growing number of believers from the many nations, into one church. Satan is bound and may no longer fool almost all the people in all the nations. God’s rescued people (now known as the church) would not have national boundaries. It would operate under a New Covenant. Believers in heaven may now be called the church triumphant because they are at rest in their Rescuer. Believers on earth may be called the church militant because they are still at war against the forces of evil. All are one church, currently in two places.
